WHY a Joke  It's a Bloody nuisance.. I used to work in the city centre and every time I walked across to the Co-op or the bus stop I got stopped a least 3 times a week There was one Guy who was always asking for Bus Fare or £2.00 for a coffee, for goodness sake I was working my a..rse off for min wage and sometimes I had to walk home as I did'nt have my OWN bus fare It made me so annoyed... Get Help to retrain. OR Shock/Horror get a Job like we have to.. If they were told to work for their money I'm sure some would look at you as if you'd got two heads

I've got another job now so I don't come across this anymore..It makes you feel guilty to say NO everyday but Why should we hand over our hard earned cash to people you just blatantly Stop you in the street? We could all do that but I'd never dream of it.

I applaud this idea Some don't feel that they can refuse so they just get ripped off everyday by people doing this.

It's so intimidating as well

Yes I do feel sorry Well the genuine cases....But we don't know the genuine one's from ungenuine for them BUT The powers that be should be out their offering support and help to them as well.

It makes me SO annoyed.

Skybluecelt......The only Joke involved is you walk out of work absolutely shattered and you are faced with people blatantly stopping you and asking for money, fags etc.....THAT gets beyond a joke obviously it's never happened to you on a daily basis.

I'm with you Sav. The lazy sods should get some self respect and get a job, any job. Begging in some area's has become a vocation.

I have been to countries where beggers have no choice but to beg but these people are basically parasites who leach off hard working people such as your self.

There is no excuse for begging in this country.

Next time chuck them a soddin Bonio, my Springer loves them :D

Just heard on The Radio that so far they've caught 4 men and 1 woman ....all are reliant on Drugs........So the money for coffee/Bus fare etc is a sodding load of tosh people working AND paying towards their Drugs

The police have offered all 4 help with their Drug probs.

Wonder what the next solution will be to the ongoing social problems centered around drug abuse?
I think people should remember that this poor unfortunate group, are innocent of any blame regarding the availability of illegal drugs.
Both the drugs and the addicts are part of a modern society

Mind you, if you was going to remove the unwanted sections of society, where would you put them and how would you sell it to the general public.
How about a residential reorientation village, the motto could be “Sobriety sets you Free”.

Pehaps if the undercover cops were addressing the drug dealers over running the city, maybe your begging issue would resolve it self.

The point I was trying to make was that the police have more impotant issues for their under cover teams to be dealing with and it turns out most of the beggars are drug addicts. Most prostitues, muggers, shop lifters, burglars etc are also drug addicts.

I was starting to suspect that drivers must be resposible for most of the ills in our society due to all the police resources and activities aimed at them.

im glad they have done this i come to cov a lot by train and its nice to walk from the station under the sub ways without beggers who are drunk or high begging for money , if they were homeless i would give them food or a hot drink but they wear designer trainers ??, in this day and age theres no need to be homeless we have homeless shelters in coventry , they beg cus they want there next fix of drugs

Perhaps instead of deploying under cover police, the government could run a training course teaching the public to just say no.

Ahhh, I see where you are coming from. My apperance is not one which attracts bullys so my experiences are obviously a little different.

But I still think that the problem should and could be dealt with by uniformed police, specials or even the council wardens.
