Kelvin Etuhu

Postby covfrog »

I understand from a good "source" that Kelvin Etuhu is the premiership striker we are trying to sign, and that the deal should be complete very soon!! A man City player who was on loan at cardiff last season, has hardly set the world alight in his career so far, but he's still young and if Aidy has seen something in him then lets hope for the best!

I also understand that McIndoe will be shortly leaving possibly to onne of his old clubs Doncaster.

The times said this morning that we would sign Etuhu. But I think it may be on a permanent deal.

I doubt we will sign this guy, I looked him up on Wikipedia hes due in court in a weeks time for assault !!!!!

On 13 July 2010 Etuhu was arrested on charges relating to an assault at Manchester 235 Casino in February. Three people were injured, Etuhu was charged with assault and will appear before the magistrates on 6 August 2010.[9]

Covfrog I know you were right about Lee Carsley so I respect your source. But I do think this is un-believable that Ranson and Aidy will sign someone that in a weeks time could put a mountain of egg on their faces.

I searched him on the ManCity forums and it's suggested that he was also involved in handling stolen goods a few months back. Only a young guy but starting a worrying trend. Hopefully can change before it's too late. Unfortunately and I don't want to keep going over old ground, but if King finds it difficult to get back into the game then it may make people like Ethuhu realise that is not the path for them to continue on, as opposed to if he gets straight back it will encourage him to think that he can continue doing what he likes and get multiple chances if he's talented enough.

Thanks Cov Frog

As a relaible source I take this to be genuine , all the talk of his court case etc I have not researched this - well he has to be proved guilty and in honesty who knows what happened ( Steven Gerrard springs to mind)

It would be someone I would like to see at the club

Although not totally convinced about this possible signing he does have the benefits of youth on his side as only 22 yrs old, having seeing him pay only a number of times he is definately a physical presence and has pace to burn. Also has the versatility to play as both a striker and a winger. However on the down side during his loan at cardiff he made 16 appearances and managed to score 0 goals, infact his last senior goal was in 2007 for Rochdale
So looking at it from a sensible point of view i believe this would be a bad signing for us, as a striker as we have Platt for a target man. Lukaz is a young talent who needs developing the same as Jeffers, and Eastwood well Eastwood is Eastwood. I believe the next striker should be a natural goal scorer i.e a fox in the box someone like philips or beattie however these two probably have wage demands way above our limit.

I think we should only sign choir boys or those who can prove they've led a virtuous life. I'll text RR about it.

Do i sense some sarcasm... I am aware how fierce the competion was at cardiff for the strikers as i actually went to school with Whittingham and know some of the Cardiff lads well as i visit a couple of times a year. Jay Bothroyd and Michael Chopra are an awsome partnership however this does not explain why he hasn't scored since 2007.
I was not getting personal with the original poster i was just stating a fact... :)

I've not suggested we don't sign him Torchy since I don't know a great deal about him (only what I've read). All I was pointing out was that if we do sign him and he is en route to self destruction then whilst young enough we may be able to steer him around whilst at the same time pointing out what an awful role model it would be to have King in the same dressing room.

I was not being sarcastic 4evahopefull, I just think the circimstances around him being at Cardiff did not help his career.

We could go on and on for every signing ( Jukebox only played in Scotland etc ).

However I believe the best managers spot talent ,bring it on and in the correct circumstances not only help the player but also their own reputation and ultimaly the club progress.

It's all about team balance, with experience and youth, working within a budget that the club can afford and the team performs.

There is always a chance that the person you have brought in might just fit in Perfectly :)
